Picture of Our Story

When Garrett had just finished his first year of PA school and Olivia was wrapping up her first year of medical school, they were both doing clinical rotations at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. For a few weeks, Olivia had noticed Garrett in the cafeteria and developed quite a crush on the mystery man. One day, after she had already told most of her friends and family members about this good looking guy, she introduced herself and finally learned his name. The next day, which, unbeknownst to them, happened to be their last day of clinical rotations at the same hospital together, Garrett found her in the cafeteria and asked her to go on a date.

On their third date while walking by the river, Garrett sat Olivia down on a bench to have an important chat. He said he was very serious about dating her. He knew that if she agreed, they would be in a long distance relationship for the foreseeable future as he was moving to Rochester, MN for his next few rotations and Olivia was headed back to Wausau for her second year medical of school. Garrett said he was more than happy to make the drive to see her, knowing the drive home would always be extra difficult. Olivia was thrilled and knew there was something very special about him.

Throughout the next two and a half years, they moved a combined total of 12 times as they both completed their medical training and their trusty matching Toyota Highlanders drove hundreds of miles each week to see each other. On a Tuesday night in November, Garrett asked Olivia to spend forever with him as his wife.

After long distance, endless drives, FaceTime calls, and unpredictable living situations, they are thrilled to be moving to Madison together where Olivia will be completing her anesthesiology residency and Garrett will be working as an emergency medicine PA. They are so excited to celebrate their marriage with friends and family, and are incredibly grateful to God for bringing them together.
